How to get to the port of Livorno

There are several ways to get to the port of Livorno, which is easy to reach from whichever direction you are coming from. Here are some directions.


Once on the A12 Genova-Livorno-Rosignano motorway, take the Livorno exit. The same applies if you are coming from the A11-A12 Firenze-Pisa-Livorno motorway. Then proceed by taking the S1 and then following the signs for Porto di Livorno or ‘Port Authority’. The same port is also connected to the Strada di Grande Comunicazione (S.G.C.) Firenze-Pisa-Livorno.

Grimaldi ferries leave from the Darsena Toscana Est, to get there you have to take the Firenze/Pisa/Livorno (FI/PI/LI) and follow the signs for Livorno Porto going straight until you see the sign Darsena Toscana Est – Viale Mogadiscio.


There are no regular buses to the commercial port, but you can get there from Livorno Central Station by bus to Piazza Grande. From there it takes about 10 minutes to reach the Port Authority and the Maritime Station.


The nearest airport is 18 km from the port of Livorno and is located in Pisa: Pisa International Airport ‘Galileo Galilei’. You can take a taxi, rent a car or opt to go to Pisa station and take a train (20 minutes to the port).
